Steve Checkz In

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well. I haven't written anything for awhile because I've been enjoying my yearly watching of the Tour De France on TV. I love that race! Three weeks of cycling 100+ miles a day, or thereabout. Those guys are amazing athletes. Well, it's over now so it's back to getting ready for the upcoming volleyball season.

NC how are things in Illinois? Are you surviving the heat and humidity? I hope so.

Yo! Southy - how is the ankle?

I guess everyone is still gone on vacation? KS, SS, CG hm who else? I know JA and BA just came back from way down south. I'm sure you wil be glad to get back here and cool off again.

See a bunch of you Wednesday, and don't forget open gym on Wednesday and Friday of the following week that's the 4th and 6th of August. Tryouts the 9th, 10th, and 11th of August Freshmen and Sophomores 2-4 pm Juniors and Seniors 4-6 pm

Steve Singz

Good Morning!

It was nice to hear from one CG who is off in Utah at the moment. I think some other Palmer types are with her for the BYU Volleyball Camp. Maybe KS and SS ? I think ? I hope you girls are enjoying the hot sunshine down there because there certainly hasn't been much here since you left... (breaks into song) Ain't no sunshine....

Speaking of songs didn't Olivia Newton-John sing about sports physicals? Sports physicals are good for 1 year. If they run out at any time during the sport season you are about to begin then you have to have a new one prior to starting said season. A physical that is good until September 4th, as an example, needs to be redone ahead of the start of volleyball. Getting a physical in the summer is the best bet because then it will be good for the entire school year, and you won't have to mess with it again.

Beautiful Day

Hey!

I'm sorry I am always a little slow getting around to updating this page, but smmer is a busy time for me.

I just finished reading Jayme's page with all the stories about the sand tourney, and looking at the smiling faces in the pictures following the story. I think MM is in every picture! It looks like everyone had a fine time in town playing and i see our old friend turned UAA assistant is kicking some sand court butt. Go get em ES!

It's not too soon to start thinking about sports physicals, open gyms, and tryouts. All of these things are just around the corner if you are an interested high school volleyball player.

We will have 2 open gyms. August 4th and again on August 6th 6-8 pm both times. We encourage all girls to show up. We have a great time playing volleyball. There is nothing to be afraid of at all. Young, old, incoming freshmen to aging alumni, are all welcome. Bring friends -don't leave anyone at home!

More information about open gyms and tryouts will be on the Palmer Volleyball Blog and on my page in the upcoming weeks.

The sun is shining! Volleyball is just around the corner! It's a beautiful day!!

Cheerio!

A Couple of Questions

Hi!

The sun came out again finally, and it was just in time for NC's birthday party barbecue dealy. I enjoyed sitting on the deck (once the wind died down) watching funny games being played in the yard. There were donuts on strings, water balloons, whipped cream on faces, all the makings of a good time. Oh and what girl's birthday party would be complete without that confetti cake? What is with you girls and that cake? Don't get me wrong, all cake is good cake- I was just wondering ? Other things i wonder about... why would anyone pickle a carrot? No, seriously... why??

I have veered off the subject yet again. the original subject was our little NC and the fact that she is about to leave for college. I am amazed at how fast 4 years goes by, and how we meet all of you volleyball girls and then in less time than it takes me to tell a story... you are gone! Off to college or to wherever else your lives take you.

I think NC is the first to leave this summer, but i want to wish all of this years seniors the best of luck in whatever comes next for you. MM, BA, NC, JC, DP

Everyone go by the Palmer golf course this summer and hit a bucket of balls with DP! I hear she rocks the 7 iron

4th of July Weekend

Hey!

It's the 4th of July already? Summer goes by too fast! I hope everyone has fun stuff planned for this weekend. Personally, I think i will just try to stay out of the cottonwood fuzz.

It was good to see you all this past week in the gym. I am enjoying the young group and seeing the progress you are all making. Good to see LF back again after a long absence. Setters don't forget to work on your hands and all the different footwork things we've covered and you will be a star : )

Older girls- I missed a bunch of you who were off doing other things this past week KB,KS,AG,MS to name a few. Hopefully you are having a good time and i will look forward to seeing you again soon.

More hitting is coming next week, along with some other things. practice armswings this week - heck just practice everything : )

Happy 4th of July to you all. See you soon

Steve Sez

That is more like it!

I see Jayme has made mention of the fact that i have been writing on my page again. I don't want to push Jayme too much. She seems a bit feistier these days.

The rainy weather, for some reason, has not gotten me down this summer. I've been too busy with work, projects, and chores to have much time to complain about the rain.

I think it is time for my traditional review of the week with initials...

Let me think? Let's start with the younger set

JM is off to Australia for awhile- some sort of "People to People" "Up With People" "Power to the People" sort of trip. Whatever the reason - should be fun to see Australia - too bad it is their winter right now. I suspect their winter is hotter than our summer so...

MB, SB and another MB were all back from earlier vacations. One was tanned the others were not apparently the tan MB went someplace nicer.

I have been enjoying seeing how hard everyone in the young group is working. Way to go! See you all tomorrow.

Older girls... KB got a little older recently, then RS (aka SK) followed suit this past week. HB2U2 ! : )

I will do my best to keep updating this page. I hope everyone is doing well. See you tomorrow.
